Grant Cardone doesn't think running a business from home is the smart financial move many people believe it is. In a 2019 video, the entrepreneur and real estate investor reflected on his own early years in business and said trying to operate from his house was a costly error. He described the experience as feeling trapped, comparing a home office to a prison that held him back from real growth.
Cardone, now known for his aggressive sales tactics and luxury real estate empire, said he made that mistake in his 30s. He recalled how he tried to save money by working from his living room, but the arrangement actually hurt his productivity and his image. "It was stupid," he said bluntly, adding that a home environment is not a place to run a serious operation. He argued that separating work from personal life is essential for focus and for projecting credibility to clients and partners.
The investor believes that renting a cheap commercial space or a shared office is a better move than staying at home. He stressed that the cost of a proper workspace is an investment, not an expense. For Cardone, the lesson is clear: if you treat your business like a hobby by running it from your kitchen table, you will get hobby-level results. He advises entrepreneurs to get out of the house as soon as possible if they want to scale.
